Before lock down we started visiting carers and their families. We wanted to show the importance of carers (unpaid) who are often unseen. Recruiting carers has been difficult; shy, unworthy, embarrassed were some of the reasons carers gave to why they felt unable to get involved. Then lockdown happened and we have been unable to reach this now even more isolated population of individuals. These carers have saved the UK Government £530 million in the care they provide (Carers UK) so far. With many of their responsibilities being hugely increased due services their love ones relied on needing to close.
Carina and I would like to show what it is like to be an unpaid carer. The good, the bad and the ugly. We hope to lift carers up on the pedestal they rightfully deserve to stand on.
This pandemic will not stop us!!! Maybe just slow is down a little...
